Negligent Driving First Degree
This charge is a misdemeanor and is punishable up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. A person is guilty of this offense is he /she “operates a motor vehicle in a manner that is both negligent and endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property, and exhibits the effects of having consumed liquor or an illegal drug.” Ironically, Negligent Driving does not have as severe punishments, but is harder to prove than driving under the influence.
